Springwater and Cazadero Grid Modernization Project

Summer 2025 - 2030

Project Overview

This multi-year effort will strengthen and update PGE's electric grid.

We are replacing transmission towers along a 32-mile corridor that connects PGE's Clackamas hydropower facilities with Portland. Hundreds of aging poles and towers are being replaced with more modern, streamlined equipment with a smaller footprint.

This project is essential to maintaining a safe, reliable and modern energy grid.

  • To limit impacts to trail users, we’re doing the work in phases:

    • 2025 to early 2027: South of Estacada progressing north through Boring to Gresham

    • 2028 – 2030: Gresham progressing west through the Lents neighborhood and to Southeast Portland.

Project Area

The work will take place primarily in and along the Cazadero Trail and Springwater Corridor, with local road and trail closures occurring throughout construction.
